From Bookshelf to Coffin, a Life Shelf

Shelves for Life is an ingenious piece of furniture designed by William Warren, a self-proclaimed conceptual designer, lateral thinker, and joker. It's whimsical, functional, and a total conversation piece. And, it's a bookcase that turns into a coffin.

It's a cool idea, albeit a bit twisted [as Gizmodo so aptly pointed out]. Get this: each unit, made of oak-veneered plywood, is cut to fit each customer. We love the idea of made-to-order stuff.

We like it. Really. It's much better than the cliche coffin coffee-table (SRP $549.95). (These guys seem to like it, too.) But it would serve the vampire population if it sported some interior shelves for our glass of TruBlood, our dog-eared copy of Phlebotomy Weekly, and our teddy bear.
